Ensminger is a good defender and won’t question his hustle, but he is a liability offensively. He doesn’t look to score. ---

Doesn’t matter. Even when they don’t commit a foul they are called for one. It was 8 Santa Clara fouls to 2 St Marys for a long stretch. Tell me St Marys hasn’t committed more then they are called for. ---

We’re hanging in and not playing bad, but SMC is getting loose balls at 3-1 clip, we have a few too many TO’s and have missed several layups (Mahi on fast break, Bukky dunk put back, etc)……those are all missed opportunities we may regret later if we’re able to keep this close. Don’t expect perfection but have to play a little cleaner. And if we’re going to upset them, probably need unexpected production from someone….Ensminger is doing that so far, 8 pts incl two 3’s. ---

That last sequence was tough. Clear foul on Carlos with no call. Soft call for SMC on the other end. ---

SMC is very good at defending the rim but still have to make more of those interior shots. Related, SMC has gone bigger with Saxen and Wessels on the court together which I don’t believe they’ve done regularly. ---

at the break you’re getting offense from sometimes unlikely sources, O’Neil 12 and Jake 8 Meanwhile Bryan Stewart and Mahi a combined 1/12 FG’s…that just doesn’t automatically get better either because Saint Mary’s ---

Yeah, and Mahi has been missing at the rim all season. It’s his most significant weakness. He is so strong and can get there almost at will. But steady conversion eludes him except against bad teams with no rim protection. ---

Entertaining game thus far. We are hanging in there but tough last sequence with Carlos no call and foul the other way. Agree we are a bit sloppy with the ball but we are hustling and challenging them on the glass which is good to see. ---

Credit O’Neil and Jake, some good spurts from Cam and down only 7 when Stewart, Bryan, and Mahi have yet to get going. Thought Mahi played some good defense and attacked the glass too in 1st half. ---

Be remarkable to see what his assist ratio could be if Mahi dished on those trips to the rim. We got a GLIMPSE of it at Sat game with Bukke. ---

Marauskas must be hurting, starting Wessels and Saxen. We have to take advantage of the quickness advantage of Tongue and O’Neil over Saxen/Wessels but so far the superior size is winning out. Wessels with a bunch of blocks and now an And1. …Cam answers with a strong finish. ---

Doesn’t matter. Same nonsense with St Mary’s. The 3 and 4 foul call on Cam was RIDICULOUS. Hope they enjoy getting knocked out first or second round as usual because the WCC refs won’t be there to save them. Hope SMC folks here trolling our page - and see how much I celebrate their early knockoff year over year. ---
