25’-26’ WCC Game# 12: @ Pacific

Need more from Mahi & Hammond in the 2nd half

Feels like the three point shooting in the slightly larger arena is just sorta off. Need to regress to the mean, in a good way.

+4 without playing our best ball. Little bit of a rock fight, hope we can put together an 8-0 run before they do.

This color commentary is AWFUL.

We’re doing our part to keep them in the game. Sash , Bukky fouling with 2 on the shot clock and sash 100 ft from the basket…. Not smart….

I like whoever is doing play by play. Doesn’t seem very biased. But yea the analyst can’t hide it…

Portland up by 8 with 10 to go. If they can hold on against Gonzaga and if we can get a win here, what a great day for our broncos it would be.

Yes, the play-by-play guy is Pete Twinkle and the color commentator is Greg Stink.

At least one person got the joke.

This was a hideous game. 8-30 from 3, 58% FT shooting, outrebounded again. Lazy and sloppy ball handling. No motion in the half court sets. And not enough KJ.

Maybe an under the radar issue….I felt Jake did a really good job on Elias Ralph. Held him to 11, well below his avg and some of those pts were in transition or loose balls when Jake wasn’t guarding him.

Ralph is key for them….keep him quiet and Pacific struggles.

Zags lose in Portland……SCU tied for 1st…

Technically, we’re half a game up on Gonzaga

And one foul over the next 8 minutes. This changed the game.

Pistol, I totally agree that Darlan has been a disappointment. But maybe the expectations were unrealistic. Let’s see how much he improves over the summer. In the meantime, I think the 9 minutes he got tonight are about right.

You’re right 92. Jake took the challenge and systematically outplayed Isaac Jack in every phase of the game - vintage Ensminger.

Santa Clara jumps up to 37 in KenPom and 33 in Torvik. That’s got to be the best ranking since Nash, right?

Impossible to say - neither existed yet at that point! But notionally, surely.

Gonzaga showing that road wins are a valuable commodity that should not be taken for granted. Enjoy this one and be ready for the next one. The Stockton to Pullman turnaround is not the easiest road trip in the conference.

Also of note: we aren’t quite to the point where it’s mathematically impossible for SCU to drop below 4th place, but the win tonight effectively guaranteed SCU a spot in the quarterfinals barring an all time collapse on the scale of…well…a Zags loss to Portland, maybe?
