As Patty noted, there were mistakes, but also some tough, winning plays. There are reasons to be frustrated, but also proud.
Otega travelled on the outlet past after the first block on Sasha. And Padilla flagged us for a all ball strip on Christian on Otega where Otega kicks the ball out of bounds. All in all. The Broncos showed up on national TV showed heart and determination and played a helluva game. Im disappointed that the magical season is over but proud of what the boys have accomplished. I have reason to believe we can make avenge this loss next year. Go Broncos!
We went down fighting and that’s all you can ask for. The future is bright for Broncos basketball. Those kids have nothing to be ashamed of, so I hope they hold their heads high. Tip your hat to Oweh. He was incredible, but our guys did us proud.
Congratulations Broncos on a memorable season. We’ll be back!!!
Hell of a ride. Imagine telling your past self we were a miracle shot from beating Kentucky in the tournament after that loss to Loyola Chicago. Proud how the team locked in and battled every game from then to today. We gave them our best shot and despite the loss, still an unforgettable experience. Hopefully this trip will be the first and not only one of my lifetime.

So incredibly proud to be a bronco, we’re back on the map. Let’s capitalize on this momentum
Great showing guys! A lot to be proud of this year…making the tourney was the expectation and they did it…with Style and Class!
Happy for all the Bronco supporters and alumni who have waited for so long, its been a long journey but today we are especially proud of our guys and to be apart of the greater Santa Clara family…
Full house in St. Louis to see a classic March madness game. Oweh is a stud. At least we didn’t embarrass ourselves like SMC.
Hold our heads high and be proud to be a Bronco. And hey, what say we make March an annual event!
Patty made reference to it and watching the replay, it looked like Herb was frantically asking for a timeout. Is that accurate?
Saw the video above… duh yeah! Thanks, Midwest
Kentucky lowest class fan base I’ve ever encountered. Had two groups randomly chirp me. At least we don’t have to live in that wasteland
. Bronco proud forever we move
Anyways, we gotta pay these guys and reload. It’s an investment in the university to be on the national stage like this. Hopefully Sullivan and Co see it now
I’m not sure Graves is finished with college after that game. Let’s hope he remains a Bronco another year!
Incredibly proud.
Saw the game in person and I am at peace with the outcome. It was basically two even teams, certainly not a David vs Goliath matchup in terms of talent. Probably would hurt more if I thought this Kentucky team was going to win the national title and we altered the course of NCAA basketball history by defeating them.
The Santa Clara section was great despite being outnumbered. It had the energy of a student section compared to the more sit on your hands Kentucky crowd.
One more experienced big with length like our injured Tadjo would have given us some breathing room.
Individually, I did not have any bad interactions with Kentucky fans. Most seemed liked solid enough people but there was an annoying one a few rows up that would say to anyone that would listen …“Graves is going to look great in a Kentucky uniform next year.”
We confirmed what I thought all year. We were a good team that proved we belong on the big stage. Can’t ask for much more than that. Glad I made the trip. Let’s indeed make it an annual thing.
Agree, future is bright and am very optimistic long term the conference and our school’s resources. Glad you didn’t encounter any annoying ones, was in 117 and had numerous come through chirping. One group sought us out in SCU gear asking for us to take a picture of them.
Just tried to buy merch and all SCU only shirts were sold out. Plenty left for all 7 other teams.
So we won the t-shirt sales contest.
That was so much fun in the SCU section. After Graves hit his 3 I was ready to dogpile with the other ‘96 guys that I was sitting with. And then “the bank shot that will live in infamy” happened.
Incredible atmosphere today & the future looks bright, but absolutely brutal to see these in replay…
In addition to the missed TO, clock was delayed in starting on Oweh’s catch:
Hammond’s clean strip:
I’ll die on the hill of the old coach-ism of, “if you put yourself in position where the refs determine the outcome, you’ve already lost.” But it definitely stings today. A lot.
Awesome fight by SCU. And if you have to lose, lose in a way that gives you a chip on your shoulder and a little edge to carry forward. They had Kentucky on the ropes, and it took a couple bad calls and a miracle heave to tear the victory away from SCU.
Sounds like a team with something to prove next season…
