The classic hallmark of a Broncos season under HS: along the way, an unexpected big win (like a win in Spokane), paired with a couple of brutal losses to bad teams. I’m thinking 11-7 in conference play, barring any substantial injuries. Hope springs eternal, only to be smashed every year.
Let’s play a little game: which notable NCAA hoops coaches make the best (1) pre-game opponent-specific plans; and (2) in-game adjustments? I have my guesses, but will keep to myself until I hear from the rest of y’all.
And to all: Merry Christmas! Thank you for bearing with me through annual rants. Maybe I should be celebrating Festivus. My favorite part of Festivus, of course, is the Airing of Grievances.
3 of our starters combined for 6 points last game. Will be interesting to see if they mix up the rotation against Oregon State (who just won at Arizona State by the way).
Linking the Unofficial WCC Pod here for folks to listen to. I’m still too frustrated by the loss to engage for a few days, but I promise I’ll give it a listen before the OSU game.
The only thing that makes the Loyola loss a little less difficult to swallow is the fact that I think our bubble basically burst in the second half against Arizona State.
But I agree, there is no reason not to mix it up. Experiment with a jumbo lineup where Ensminger/Hammond/Mahi take turns running the point. Graves is shooting a higher percentage from 3 than either of our Point Guards so it is not like you lose floor spacing going big. And I don’t think we are getting much dribble penetration from either of the point guards so not losing that either. Maybe Knapper finds his shot again coming off the bench, a role he was very good in last year.
