I’m watching the replay now, and 92’s insights are well-taken. Bukky’s rim protection would certainly help, but this team definitely showed some old school toughness in a very loosely officiated game.

Forgot to post I flew out of SJC Saturday morning and McNeese State was flying out as well. Talking with some players and staff they mentioned how tough this year’s squad was especially Graves. Much different than last year’s squad they said

I’m gonna give Cam a “tip of the hat” for beating Graves up an entire season to prep him for this year! lol.
Cam said he had him battle tested, I expected big things from Graves having more size than Cam - and I’m seeing it! Congrats on the win.

Like Cam, Graves is a tough, skilled and determined young man. The redshirt year and Cam provided quite an edge. Hope he is doing well.

Cams been out for six weeks battling tendinitis. But anyone who knows him - knows he will bounce back with attitude. lol
Fun fact. While sitting out a game when his team was on the road - Cam and two other injured players went to a local watch party. The local fans mentioned how they already feel the loss of his presence on the court regarding rebounding. So I’m sure that was fun for him to see the locals appreciating his game.

Femme, it’s a great point. Graves’ size and adoption of Cam’s fearlessness is proving itself successful. It is stunning to me how well the team is performing on the O-boards, mostly attributable to Graves.
The real test is when we matchup with beefcake frontcourts.

Im encouraged by the physicality. There is a certain level of determination I haven’t seen for the dirty work. The defense travels and the guards crash boards with the bigs. Regardless of who we have played the rebounding numbers are high and the defense has been above average. Tadjo is only listed at 6’8”; 6’”7 depending where you look, what we were looking forward too was his physicality and Graves, Frankie Freshman, Bukky, and Ensminger are giving us just that. Keep it rollin!!!

I told Cam he got a shout out from the unofficial WCC for making Graves battle tested. He said “nah. He was tough already. I just reminded him how tough every day at practice!” Lol.
How I WISH he’d been part of a total Santa Clara physical team. You may have one this year.
