OOC Game 3: @ Xavier

You mean SCU didn’t incubate KK?

Definitely model program!

I just looked at the line again. Down to SCU +3.

That’s a pretty heavy shift from 5.5 to 3. Looks like most of the money came in on SCU and now the sports books are trying to balance.

On BetMGM app the spread went down to Broncos +2.5 now it’s +3.5.

Currently 63% of spread bets are on Xavier & 86% of bets are on Xavier moneyline

Help. I have too much hope this early in the season.

Well that was pretty pleasing.

I hope we can hang on…

I am so glad to see our boys didn’t fold in the last 2 minutes of the first half. For many, many years our leads would often shrink due to turnovers and poor defense.

Xavier is not good, but SCU’s play gives me hope. We are not playing down to our competition.

Could this finally be a breakout year? The only thing that gives me pause on this roster is we don’t have the heavyweights to bang with SMC.

Balanced offensively, but just tremendous team defense. We’re active, helping, trapping, forcing turnovers.

2nd half: Let’s keep our foot on the gas. Go Broncos!!

I love this team. Please, Broncos, don’t hurt me.

Also, where is bb this season? He was always talking about handsy defense and “fouling without fouling.” Santa Clara looks like the Big East team out there and Xavier part of the WCC.

Very impressed with Santa Clara’s energy and defense. Haven’t seen this in a long time!

Come to think of it we should look to join the Big East with a Big Coast West addition similar to some of the PAC 10 in the Big 10 now. Add Santa Clara, SMC and USF and another WCC school to the Big East. We fit the school size and religious profile so well and no football. Regional conferences are outdated, so why not make the Big East even better with a West Coast footprint. Instead of settling for WCC, Santa Clara should try to cozy up to Big East expansion and let Gonzaga cry about missing out.

this will do

Allen Graves and everyone else’s energy is apparent. 20 more minutes. Can’t give them hope.

I like it Patty. Also loving the full court pressure. Not just some token press, but really utilizing your deeper bench as an asset. It’s an effective and sensible approach (finally). These kids are getting after it. That’s for sure. Embracing the art of fouling. They certainly are not afraid of contact, nor are they being told to never touch their opponent (like seasons past).

So far, so good.

While I’m genuinely impressed with our squad, I think we have to be honest: this Xavier team is just not good. Or at least, not yet. If I understood the commentary early in the game, they do not have 1 player who was on the team last year.

Agreed, Buckets (their 2 wins were not impressive either). Still, it’s not easy to go on the road and absolutely decimate Xavier.

I think this Xavier team is still working things out but they absolutely have talent. The Broncos look like a really solid team tonight. We are not relying on 3 point shots and soft defense. Intensity is strong on both sides and they are driving to the basket and finishing in the paint. A lot to be positive about tonight.

Like betterer noted, X hasn’t beaten anyone of note, but it’s encouraging that the Broncos are performing well and more energetically and physically than I can remember for years. Plus: the Broncos are missing 2 players who were projected to be part of the first seven in the rotation.

WAXED EM

Xavier won’t be good but a very damn good performance from the Broncos in not giving them any hope. Lets keep stacking wins and avoid that damn flat tire!

Yeah. Three very winnable games at home coming up.

Wasn’t far off. What a game for the broncos! I haven’t seen this level of aggression in a long time. That was a genuinely fun game to watch and I hope we can look like this against other big teams. See everyone Saturday!
