WCC Conference Schedule

The WCC just released the conference schedule today but it’s not finalized. Games will be played on Wednesdays and Saturdays but with flexibility for television. The first 6 games have actual dates the remainder of game dates will be determined by television schedule

Pretty decent schedule. Santa Clara gets lucky in traveling to McCarthy before the students get back, though that rarely makes much of a difference in Spokane.

The final three games being USF, SMC, and Oregon State seems designed to create some good late season drama for the race for 2-4 (assuming the Zags zag).

I like the flexibility on scheduling which seems designed to get as many games on tv as possible. That’s going to be somewhat annoying for the fan experience as it’ll be extra hard to find games across multiple networks or streaming services. But it will help with overall exposure, which is probably for the best and worth prioritizing, especially transitioning to a post-Gonzaga future.

Of course, it’s only enabled by throwing the idea of “student-athletes” out the window–since the idea of a Thursday/Saturday league was at least partially to make it easier to arrange class schedules. But as the team that just set a precedent by recruited a G-League player, Santa Clara can’t complain much on that point.

Hard to invite friends to join me at games when we don’t know a date. Thanks WCC
