Here’s a thread to discuss your highlights, grievances, disappointments, and exciting moments from this past season.
Here’s a little context for starters:
Total Record: 21-13
WCC Record: 12-6 (4th Place)
Post-Season: NIT Second Round
Season-Ending Analytics (vs 2023-24):
NET: 57 (105)
Torvik: 47 (117)
KenPom: 57 (109)
Wins Above Bubble (Torvik): -4.1, 87 (-4.0, 95)
Non-Con Strength-of-Schedule Rank (KenPom): 78 (87)
Regarding Adama Bal, and this is purely conjecture on my part as I’m not privy to the extent of his injury. We know that he was available for the WCC tournament, then unavailable for the NIT, due to either new or recurring injury.
I’m just curious if he would have been available had this been a NCAA game. I’m sure he’s looking at his future contract, probably abroad, as I don’t see a NBA future. I don’t know that I can blame him as it’s no different than a NFL prospect asked to play in a meaningless bowl game and risk injury. I don’t know if he had checked out mentally once we lost to Pepperdine. In fairness to him, the injury may have been significant.

It’s wild that we have 4 quad 3 losses and a quad 4 loss and we’re 57th in NET. We really scheduled well, got great wins, and curb stomped most of the teams that deserved it to get that high. But as usual, it’s slipping on a couple banana peels and stepping on a few legos for good measure that costs us.
I’m sure my wishlist for next season is the same as most others here. Be more physical on the defensive end and deal with it better on the offensive end. Oh and a point god…errr I mean guard.
