2025-26 Season opponents

Interesting venue. Is it part of a tournament or “classic?”

I wonder if this is intended to rig the NET rankings.

Neutral Win vs. Home Win?

It’s absolutely that for both sides. Same for USF’s games in Chase (except Gonzaga which counts as home even though they voluntarily moved it).

I think the one-off neutral games are annoying, but at least some fans will make it to Santa Cruz versus South Dakota.

Overall, this is shaping up to be almost as good of a schedule as last year, which was the best OOC SCU has had in the past 20 years. So kudos to the staff. Keep it coming.

So bummed. A good friend and son both went to Loyola, but I will be out of the country for the tilt.

Here’s the schedule as we know it so far:

  • at Xavier

  • Nevada

  • McNeese

  • ASU (n) – Jack Jones Classic

  • at Fresno State

  • Saint Louis (n) – Acrisure Tournament Game 1

  • Stanford/Minnesota (n) – Acrisure Tournament Game 2

  • Loyola Chicago (n) – Santa Cruz

Likely:

  • SJSU – Still assuming that we resume the series but who knows.

  • Saint Louis – Reporting that prior to the Acrisure pods being announced, SCU and SLU had agreed to a home-and-home. Allegedly they are still willing to make it happen, so we may see the first leg of the home-and-home this season which, I’m guessing, would be in St. Louis only because SCU already has the return games for McNeese and Nevada on the home schedule.

That would leave 3 one-off home games against lower tier opponents. Pretty good schedule if it all materializes.

SLU’s nonconference schedule was released, and it does not include Santa Clara except as part of the Acrisure event. So looks like there’s one more schedule slot, and the Broncos will have to wait for next year to start a SLU home-and-home. We will still get to take in one more tilt against Robbie Avila in Palm Desert.

Heard that the Broncos will be playing two games in Santa Cruz this season

I assume that’s a decent / good opponent who would replace SLU. No idea who it would be, though. Cal probably wouldn’t bother. But maybe Grand Canyon or Utah State or someone like that?

Or maybe we can get Jamie Dixon to bring his Horned Frogs through again for some random neutral-site shellacking by Sendek.

Maybe we can get a good east coast team who will already be out west for a tourney (Hawaii for example) who wants to add a game on the way back east.

The 2nd Santa Cruz game with be against North Texas. Like with Loyola Chicago these are the start of two “home & home” against these teams. Next season SCU will play Loyola at the United Center and play North Texas in Dallas, not sure of the location

That way they all can manipulate the neutral court win/loss

Thanks for the explanation, LL. I could not make sense of having games in SC.

Good info, @LucasLandon With Cal Poly Humboldt on the schedule, I assume that means it’s an exhibition game. That means just one “secret” scrimmage which I hear will be New Mexico.

Here’s the updated schedule (minus dates) as we think we know it, now including pre-season Torvik rank:

  • Non-D1 - Cal Poly - Humboldt (likely exhibition)

  • at (71) Xavier

  • (131) Nevada

  • (103) McNeese

  • (70) ASU (n) – Jack Jones Classic

  • at (207) Fresno State

  • (79) Saint Louis (n) – Acrisure Tournament Game 1

  • (101) Stanford / (83) Minnesota (n) – Acrisure Tournament Game 2

  • (89) Loyola Chicago (n) – Santa Cruz

  • (94) North Texas (n) – Santa Cruz

  • (197) Louisiana

  • (323) Idaho State

  • (271) Utah Tech

  • Potential: (213) San Jose State

Quad 1 Quad 2 Quad 3 Quad 4
Xavier St. Louis McNeese Fresno State
ASU Nevada Louisiana
(Minnesota) (Stanford) Utah Tech
Loyola Chicago Idaho State
North Texas (San Jose State)

That would make for a roughly even schedule as last year which featured one Quad 1 game (at McNeese) and four Quad 2 games (ASU, Nevada, TCU, and Bradley). But only if it all goes to chalk. Last year should have been stronger except that Stanford and St. Louis, especially, trended downward throughout the year. There are more Q4 games in this OOC which means more pitfalls that the Broncos need to avoid. Going to Fresno State seems especially dangerous.

Well that’s cool. I really like that UNM is an away game rather than a scrimmage. That is a nice improvement for the schedule, overall. I’ve updated the Quad chart below for the schedule.

Quad 1 Quad 2 Quad 3 Quad 4
Xavier St. Louis McNeese Fresno State
ASU Nevada Louisiana
(Minnesota) (Stanford) Utah Tech
Loyola Chicago Idaho State
North Texas
New Mexico
