Santa Clara joins Oregon, Alabama, and Ohio State in 2023 Emerald Coast Classic
Tremendous. That’s a real tournament field and a meaningful opportunity for good wins. Hopefully the program stays on a roll.
Now that Gonzaga has wiped the floor with the WCC… I can move on. This is great news!!
Home Vs. Utah State.

Remember when Santa Clara was one of the schools in the consolation round robin side of these tournaments? We’d play a MEAC squad and maybe a Big West team just to get a shot at Michigan State.
Nice to have SCU in the tournament with the big dogs. Hopefully they can show that they deserve the elevation.
I would be pretty willing to guess that we draw Bama to open the tournament. Ohio State vs. Oregon seems likely to to be the other matchup. I’ve resisted multiple Alabama jokes in poor taste. Big of me.
SCU with three powerhouse programs is great.
Schedule is shaping up nicely.
Cam has informed me that this season will be the toughest they have faced in Santa Clara history. Maybe they are starting to take our program a little more seriously?
Looks like Alabama might be a little short staffed for the next season - unless they pull a bunch of last-minute portal players.

So we now have the following confirmed… still missing about 5-6 I’d say-:
11/8 - vs Utah tech
tbd - vs Utah state
Tbd - vs SE Louisiana
11/24 - vs Oregon (emerald bay - FL)
11/25 - Ohio st or Alabama (emerald bay - FL)
12/2 - at cal
12/9 - vs New Mexico (vegas)
12/16 - vs wash st (Phoenix)
12/21 - vs sjsu
12/23 - vs Duquesne (Vegas)
12/30 - vs yale
It’s interesting that it looks like the WCC will start a little later this year. We normally seem to play on the 30th for the first conference game don’t we?
That is a little off because while the WCC is down a team, there’s no weird Gonzaga concession this time. Full round robin, so the same number of games as before.
Still, this is starting to look like a really great schedule.
