I just watched BYU play at Baylor. I’m not one to root for Texas teams (OK, OK, yes I rooted for the Houston Oilers when SCU star Dan Pastorini was the starting QB, but I digress), but I have to say I was rooting hard for Baylor. Nothing more I’d like to see than BYU (who went into conference play with just one loss) finish around .500 against conference opponents.

I think it’s a real possibility that BYU doesn’t make the tournament despite the supposedly hot start. They mostly played at home against schools like SE Louisiana and Denver, and got just one meaningful win against San Diego State. A loss at home to Cincinnati isn’t quite on the level of losing in Malibu, but they can’t afford to have games like that at home against the few unranked B12 teams.
If I were a betting man, I’d take the under on finishing .500 in league. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving fan base.
