Game 4: Cal Poly

Sendek tried to stuff a square peg through a round hole for the first 5 years. Finally in the last 3 games he hasn’t. Doesn’t exactly qualify him as amazing. (Although I have been impressed in these last 3 games).

You don’t know what you’re talking about.

I’m sure you’ll have the knives out at the first opportunity. Probably still sharpening them.

Noob, you’re not very good with the truth when it doesn’t fit your agenda.

Where is Vrankic tonight?

Two quick notes: 1) Jalen Williams is LEGITTTT!!! But of course we all knew that for a while now. It’s nice to see the media finally taking notice. 2) Carlos Stewart is going to be one of our main guys moving forward. You can tell this kid can ball. He has fantastic handles and a great looking stroke. I think he will be our starting PG next year unless we get a new grad transfer.

P.S. I know we as a community have been voicing our opinions on the horrible marketing and the horrible streaming quality, but I believe we have hired someone to film and edit videos of our team which partially helps on of our problems. If my speculations are true, we can expect some nice edits in the works coming soon to various social media platforms. On to TCU on Monday which will be my the first game I’ll be attending since I’ve graduated two years ago!! I’ll be bringing a friend who is also an SCU alum in hopes that he grows some interest and joins our community. Go Broncos!!

Jalen Williams definitely has the best chance of making an NBA roster of any Bronco in recent memory. He is so long (I think he has a 7 foot wingspan)and showing more bounce and burst this year. Really helped himself in the weight room this summer. I remember watching the Gonzaga game last year at Spokane and thinking that he was more than capable of going toe to toe with anyone on the court. He had 4 steals and 2 blocks in that game.

To be fair to the media, J Williams wasn’t playing really well until the back end of last season (he was in double figures in 9 of last 10, but more like 14-15 ppg than 20 – I didn’t do the math, just eyeballed it). But he’s taken even another step forward.

The short term for Stewart is getting better on defense. If he can get better there, he has to play. But against better teams, the defensive piece is more important.

The social media hire is a good move (assuming they’re good, and where SCU is they certainly should be).

I love Stewarts athleticism, speed, and effort. He really gets after it. He’s likely to be one of the first guys off the bench this season (barrinng any injuries). He does provide a spark when he’s in there and some nights that’s sorely needed.
As much as Pipes and JWilliams need to be on the floor there are going to be spots where they find foul trouble or need to catch a breather and I’d suspect Stewart gets a good portion of those minutes.

Yea that’s fair. Jalen Williams’ efficiency wasn’t the greatest last year but it’s looking to be improved this season so far.

A couple of our walk-ons saw time this past game but still no minutes for Brenton Knapper. I wonder what’s up with that? Maybe he isn’t ready yet to play?

I give just about everyone a pass on efficiency last year because of the issues with practice access and time. Good players shoot outside of organized practice time, and they just couldn’t do it.

IIRC, Jalen came in young, I can’t find a source for this but I just seem to remember it. If I’m remembering right, that would mean he’s making the big jumps now that a lot of guys make going from freshman to sophomore.

Perhaps a planned redshirt year for Knapper? If that was the plan I’d think he’d be getting minutes in garbage time, and he’s had none so far, correct? I can’t recall him playing any minutes.

Yea you are correct. So far no minutes from Knapper.
