Congratulations to SCU and Coach Filter on truly a tremendous season. Yes, we lost tonight but went toe to toe with the #3 ranked team in the country on their field with their home crowd, yet we brought the tying run to the plate in bottom of the 9th.
Arkansas 6…SCU 4
No shame in this loss, the boys battled all night and I know earned a great deal of respect around the country for their grit and hustle. Credit to Arkansas for the win as they have a solid team and fan base.
I think the future of Broncos baseball looks bright, and one very proud alum tonight!

Stage wasn’t too big for the Bronco Boys at all, and that was one of the biggest college baseball stages there is. Just didn’t quite have the pitching (except my fellow Marauder, Cade Pilchard).
Man, how cool was that place? I read that our total attendance for the entire season was less than one sell-out at Baum Walker. It amazes me that there’s 1 mil people merely in San Jose and Santa Clara, which is a 1/3rd of all of Arkansas… and we can’t get more than 500 people to come to a baseball game. Slowly slowly if we keep winning, I’m sure.
Great work Broncos. I doubt it’s 25 years before we’re back there this time!

You shouldn’t be amazed at the attendance difference. There is nothing else to do in Arkansas but go to college baseball games. (Not to mention that U of Arkansas is the only game in town. Here, there are 3 D1 teams and only 1 is playing consistently at a nationally competitive level.)

Weave is spot on. Arkansas IS professional sports in the state.

I guess I would put it this way - I’m surprised our baseball and basketball attendance can’t be slightly better.
There are 500,000 people in the Northwest Arkansas Metro Region. Of course some come from outside of the region to games, but one can safely assume a big chunk come from that region to baseball, compared to Football or even hoops. The stadium is over 10k seats. Assume like 80% of attendees are from Northwest Ark. Isn’t that like 1 of 60 people in the region is at the game when there’s a sellout?
Meanwhile, if there are 500 people at the average Santa Clara game, and 8.5 million in the Bay Area (and I concede that may be too big a circle), we’re drawing 1 out of 15,000 people.
We could do better. Just a fun thought experiment. If we win, we could have the place 2/3rds full in general, I would think.
To defend the fine people of the Natural State, I have heard the fly fishing is tremendous and that Bentonville/Fayetteville area is a veritable boomtown for young folks and other relocatees. My wife’s firm just opened an office there, and several educated, outdoorsy folks have relocated from Denver (a general ‘winner’ in relocations).
