NCAA Tourney Talk

This isn’t a comparison to Santa Clara basketball attendance by any means. More pointing out that I’ve seen plenty of frustration from that fanbase regarding student commitment/attendance in the Kennel (and they have TREMENDOUS attendance). To some extent- it’s a larger issue than just SCU.

Part of it may be everyone having fonder memories of their glory years

Zags had a big thud in Elite Eight vs UConn. Zags not the same once Timme got 3/4 fouls. I thought this was not the best Zag team.

They got lucky when UCLA had two starters out.

Feel sorry for Timme- not a good way to end college career. Good luck in the NBA.

Oh and Joey Calcaterra (former USD) looked great while scoring 8 points

I think timme still has a year of eligibility left… would not surprised if he runs it back.

Not at all bummed that the zags got blown out.

I think he’s said that he’s done in Spokane.

I largely agree regarding the Zags. I was begrudgingly glad to see them advance the Elite 8 so that they could continue to prove to many (including their own fans) that they can still be at the top of the sport from the WCC, even in a relatively soft year for them.

But we’re now 7-8 years into Zags dominance in college basketball, and it really shows in their fan base. A fairly sizable percentage of Zags fans have never seen them lose before the Round of 32 (which is wild in its own right). Gone is any sense of the sheer miraculousness of what Gonzaga is, and it’s been replaced by wild levels of entitlement.

Anyways, if the Zags are gonna lose, it’s nice to see them humbled.

Big Dance expansion in our near future. Might be the only way we ever taste a tourney bid.

Given that we were unseeded in the NIT in recent years, we’d need a 96 team tournament to really make it lol.

Besides, we all know those extra spots will be mostly be taken up by 10th place power conference teams :upside_down_face:
