True. At least this time we will have Tilly with five fouls to give, unlike in Moraga.
Ensminger is statistically one of our biggest over-performers against top competition. This is a big game for him as offensive boards will really help tonight. And if he can keep at least threatening from three, that’s good for SCU.
Great start, but frustrating turnovers opened the door for the Zags. Bal trying to be a superhero and dribbled right into two defenders. Went from 13-3 to 13-8 on two turnovers. Their press is giving us trouble.
On another note: Cam might have recorded the best almost-a-turnover assist of the season!
Zags are shooting 75% from inside the arc and the Broncos are shooting 23% that needs to change in the 2nd half.
Coaches need to come up with a strategy for the pick and roll. Nembhard is turning the corner & getting downhill way too easy.
WCC refs are awful but these guys are particularly bad. It’s like Stu gave the order to protect the Zags
Defensively…the dribble penetration and lobs for dunks have been too easy for the Zags. I really don’t understand why Herb doesn’t show different looks defensively.
Also, their full court pressure has taken us out of our rhythm a bit and we really need something out of Tilly. Ike is doing whatever he wants. Cam needs to stay on the floor as much as possible too.
Lastly, BK…look for your shot, he looks tentative IMO.
Don’t know stats but getting killed in the paint and at the rim. Zags finishing w/ dunks and And1’s…Bronco’s struggling to finish at the rim.
We’re afraid of Zags 3rd string center Diagne.
Not afraid. It’s that AWFUL hedge and drop that Herb makes our five do. I’ve always hated that and I’ve begged Cam all season not to do it. But he’s a rule follower. So I’m proud of him - but frustrated too. lol
I agreed with killing the mid-range. But when the guards get in that deep, I’m not sure why they don’t take at least a couple of floaters or pull-ups just to keep the opponent honest.
An entertaining statement win from Gonzaga’s perspective. Santa Clara: No game plan, No discipline, deadened ball movement, unable to finish at the rim, 17 unforced turnover errors, butter fingers for hands, a commical performance… Another well deserved 19 pt coaching loss by Herb 95-76…
Gonzaga got whatever shot they wanted all night. Last 5 minutes of the first half and first 5 minutes of the second half killed the game.
End result is what happens when you don’t shoot out of your mind from 3 to bail you out of every other mistake you make. Though to be fair, the fact that we did so for about 1.5 games is about….1-1.5 games more than most of us would probably expect against Gonzaga.
