WCC Game 4: Oregon State

I’m going to say this ONE TIME!!! The WCC officials have it in for my son. He was pulled out on a BS 2nd foul for first half. We were down 7-4 when Cam came off the bench. We went up 19-12.

We were playing defense. We were trapping. We were rebounding. We were hustling. We were controlling the game.

Cam came off the floor and the momentum IMMEDIATELY changed. We went from being the bullies to being bullied.

We had to put Buckey in since Herb won’t let anyone play with two fouls and Tilly needed a rest. Unfortunately he turned ball over. Got beat on a weakside rebound and fouled when Oregon went back up for a shot. Tilly had to go in and no break for him.

These officials and their bias to my son will ALWAYS hurt our team. And I’m honestly sick of it. Their bias impacts our game because our energy changes every time.

I just pray the long sit won’t cause Cam to get lulled into a fog and he returns second half to help contribute to a win.

NO WAY this game should be tied.

Free throws have not been the challenge this season that they were last time, but man are they missing a lot tonight.

That said, Tongue is a big difference maker and having a game.

He’s really hurting. When it’s live play he can ignore pain. But it’s def affecting him at the FT line.

At least he is finishing strong around the rim tonight. I like to see that! The only mental mistake I’ve seen from him tonight is shooting that 3-pointer so early in the shot clock.

Including the front end miss by O’Neil, there are at least 5 points left at the stripe so far with just average shooting.

Cam went 6-8 at the FT line. Had 10 pts, stopped their big consistently on offense, and 5 boards in 12 mins.

13 for 27 at the free throw line. Absolutely terrible.

But I’ll give the team credit. They could’ve folded, but they kept fighting.

Pacific gave SCU a gift by beating Wazzu in the conference’s other OT game tonight. So two lucky breaks today, albeit with an unbelievable amount of bad free throws.

I hope the students loved the buzzer beater and take that energy into Saturday. Man will they be needed in force.

I did have realization tonight….

This conference is going to blow when Wazzu/OSU/Gonzaga depart.

Fun having better games even if our path is tougher.
