I didn’t know the first officer was a former Bronco. Other than that…yea, this is exactly what happened.
Ahhhhh. Now that makes more sense.
I should be clear that the story is as i heard it at the time so i would not take it as 100% true.
That said, the punishment was severe so there must have been some extenuating circumstances other than just your average DUI.
Possibly the first officer was affiliated with the university in some way (or simply just knew the player) and received punishment of their own. So the player received an more severe punishment for the transgression.
Excellent knowledge, Weave! Thank you!
Weave’s account is correct.

NEWS: Arkansas transfer guard Khalif Battle has committed to Gonzaga, he tells @On3sports.
The 6-5 senior averaged nearly 15 PPG in less than 25 minutes per game this season. Also considered Villanova and Kansas State.
That’s a big get for GU. Mitigates potential loss of scoring from the wing if Ajayi stays in the NBA draft.
I suspect they’ll go with a 3guard starting lineup of Nembhard, Hickman, Black with Venters coming off the bench w/ the green light to fire 3’s.

Hardaway to SMC…not that is interesting.
6-8 forward, 3 years of eligibility remaining. Supposedly a decent 3pt shooter, spent the later part of HS in CA at Sierra Canyon.
Between Hardaway and Arizona transfer Murauskas, also a 6-8, 3pt shooting forward, it seems SMC has adequately replaced Jefferson.
Article on Hardaway’s transfer here:
Penny Hardaway’s son commits to transfer from Memphis to Saint Mary’s (commercialappeal.com)
And glad to see Odum stay in the WCC. Pacific was terrible, but Odom was one of the few who showed some promise IMO. Not a great perimeter shooter, but quick and athletic and gets to the rim well.
So Saint Mary’s just signed a kid who had already committed to USC. Ironic they sign one who wanted out of his commitment - but denied a player who committed to them. Any updates on whether or not they will release Zion Sensley?
Other than that one tweet about Zion I can’t find any other info about SMC not letting him out of his NLI. Seems like a pretty good scoop worthy of at least an article. No other college basketball reporter has mentioned it and nothing in the Bay Area press. This isn’t some unknown recruit asking out from some small time program. With how far the pendulum has swung in favor of the athletes it would seem that this would be a larger story. One tweet or IG story from Zion would garner tremendous sympathy & outrage from the public & make SMC look terrible. Just weird to me that other than one guy reporting to what amounts as hearsay there’s nothing.
Now there might be NIL money Zion got by signing at SMC that needs to be reimbursed which is why he’s not being let out of his NLI and why everything is so quiet.

This. I’d take that story with a big grain of salt given the reporter who leaked it.

If that’s the case. Thats a HUGE violation on Saint Mary’s part. Your not supposed to get your NIL money until the season actually starts.

Pacific’s new coach and Canadian Dave Smart is leaning heavily in to pursing Canadian players, bringing in 3 or 4 with Canadian roots so far.
Elias Ralph is an interesting one, he put up impressive #'s, transferring from Victoria U. However, hard to gage the competition level but guessing it’s similar to JC or D2.
Will be interesting to see how/if it all pans out for Smart.
