USD picks up a guard:
One would think that Oregon State, which plays on Ralph Miller court, would be interested in Victorious Miller (#12 on the list) if for no other reason than the positive karma he would bring.
Is the P4 guard still in play or signed elsewhere?
Yup just announced as posted above!
Welcome and Go Broncos!
Agents must telling players they are better than they are. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Interesting statistics about this year’s portal.
I watched all available videos of the 2 portal transfers. My amateur impression is that Sidi is like Graham Ike and Castillo is like Carlos Stewart. Sidi looks like NBA prospect to me.
What videos I saw reminded me of Graham Ike as well.
Will be interesting to see what we do with the two additional roster spots. I wonder, do you not even fill them? Guess that gets dicey but probably difficult to pay 15 guys NIL.
Not critical to get to 15 IMO. As of 2years ago 13 was the max and many programs would still be a spot or two short of that.
That’s why I mentioned it’s a good opportunity to take a flyer on someone, my preference would be an athletic, raw wing with high upside.
Another angle…look for the local Bay Area kid or someone with a strong SCU connection (legacy kid) who may not be an elite recruit or you question if they can ever be a rotation guy but give them a chance. You may get lucky with a late bloomer or a player who continues to elevate has game and becomes a lights out 3pt shooter for instance and can help you down the road as 3pt shooting specialist off the bench (Joey Kampf 2.0 for the 40+ crowd here).
They might be holding roster spots open in case the NCAA grants a 5th year of eligibility to current seniors who’ve exhausted their eligibility
Does anyone know if Mahi will be on the team if 5th year granted?
I doubt it. Mahi and academics were never a great match. If he could just play basketball he’d return but basketball & school no way.
Mahi did enter his name in the portal. He may prefer to go pro or avoid the school part as noted but still chose to enter the portal; no reason not to, could be a fallback opportunity if he isn’t seeing desired interest from Euro teams. Or he simply wants to make more $ in the short term…may be a power conf school willing to pay him ~$1M which may be more than he can make in the D league or abroad.
And some programs may be willing to look the other way and not make him go to class regularly…that may not work at elite academic schools such as Duke, Vanderbilt, Northwestern but the Oklahoma St., Nebraska, Miss St., Arizona St., etc. of the power conf world probably have a different expectation.

Maybe the first one of these that didn’t leave me disheartened or rolling my eyes.
This is so cool. I know we’ve been talking as if this is a done deal but it’s great to read him say it. Jake is the academic/athlete that Santa Clara is about. Gives us great confidence in what’s ahead for SCU basketball.
It’s his team now.
He scared me for a sec. Whenever I see a long letter in that format, it’s rarely good news. Figures Jake is the exception.
