25-26 Around the WCC (and beyond)

Watching this Notre Dame @ Louisville game. The Irish are down. In a timeout, they scheme a play, come back out on the court…and Louisville switches to a 1-3-1 zone.

But yeah, if it’s not man, it’s a “junk” defense.

Gonzaga down against Portland 39-33 at halftime. Let’s go Pilots!

Oh my Portland might actually do it. Incredible game for them!

Just like I thought, Portland up 11 with 2:00 to go.

As much as I wanted us to get a Top 10 win against the Zags, this is totally unforeseen and might make the WCC race very interesting.

Very bad for us net wise imo. Nice opportunity now to win the WCC regular season to get a better opportunity at winning the tournament tho.

I don’t think this should impact us too poorly. Gonzaga is going to be a Q1 game regardless.

USF will still be a Q2 game on the road, so we should be OK.

OK, so who of us had the Broncos in 1st by half a game 25 contests into the season?

Broncos can secure first place by beating Gonzaga, gonzaga beating SMC, and running the table against the 4-12 teams. Even a loss to SMC under this scenario would leave us in 1st place, right?

If the Pilots can do it, so can our boys. They just need to play a lot better than the nonsense we saw tonight.

Stanford lost to a good Clemson team by 2 tonight. Glad to see that because a win would have put Stanford right back on the bubble. Now they are pretty much NIT bound unless they do something extraordinary to finish the season.

We need Utah St to finish off the Lobos

Depends how the tiebreaker works, but hypothetically yes. @TD_24 help me out here

Edit: From what I understand its h2h record, then record against the top team in the conference, then NET ranking, so we would be 2nd most likely. Would be great if someone can confirm this

Ironically, if SCU beat Gonzaga but lost to SMC, the Portland loss works in the Zags’ favor. It goes head to head and then opponents in order of WCC finish. So if the Zags sweep the Gaels and SCU does not, the Zags will have the 1 seed despite Gonzaga having a much worse loss.

Since SCU can’t lose to Portland, it’s impossible for NET to be used as a tie-breaker between Gonzaga and SCU.

Patty has it right.

Let’s just make it easy and win out, hope SMC beats GU and we win league outright….easy peasy.

Kind of a crazy night in the WCC.

In addition to the Pilot upset, LMU upset USF. And looking at the box score some shocking #’s…..three Lions fouled out and they committed 32 fouls leading to 42 FT attempts by the Dons and made 37 (88%). Beasley alone was 21/24. Would be interesting to see how those #’s rank for league records in a regulation game. Amazing that LMU still won by 9.

And OSU w/ a minor upset over WSU.

The Wazzu loss is mildly annoying for SCU as it will likely drop the Cougars back to Q3 territory. Santa Clara has to win the next game either way, but it would be helpful for potential bubble consideration to have each of Pacific, USF, and Wazzu be Q2 opponents. The Cougars may get back there but you’d like them to collect more wins like OSU to be solidified in a higher quadrant.

Saturday’s game at Wazzu is a dreaded 3PM start. It’s like the schedulers are intentionally trying to give me high blood pressure.

iirc its H2H if applicable, then H2H vs next team in standings (both teams must play an equal amount of games against said opponent) and usually that wraps it up going down the line of teams

WCC posted that Santa Clara leads the nation in margin of victory in conference at 17.3 … impressive!
