I guess Stanford swaps places with Cincinnati as the hot team making a late run at the bubble.
Cal with Stanford envy, off to a great start.
And we are all Utah St fans right now, hoping they take care of New Mexico. If they do then I think the MWC is a 2-bid league maximum no matter what happens in their tourney.

I hope SLU getting blasted is the wakeup they need to tear up the A-10 Tournament. When I read that the Billikens were getting smoked, I had a palpitation thinking it was already Tournament time, basically guaranteeing a bid-stealer.
Wake up, SLU. Our rates are tied to you finishing the job.
Seems like most of today’s games have gone SCU’s way.

Indiana down big at halftime. That game plus Auburn losing would be the chef’s kiss on a great day.
As for SLU, with VCU separating itself from all those other bubble teams losing today, the A-10 might be a 2-bid league anyway. Of course SLU winning their tourney is ideal, but it’s reaching the point where it may be okay if VCU wins it instead of them.

GW and Dayton could win the A-10 too, IMO.
In my utopia, SCU gets in AND the bubble breaks the mid-major way for teams like VCU, and Mountain West over P6 also rans.
I don’t think I’m going to get that lucky. So I’ll take just SCU.
No mention here but I hope all tuned in to Miami v. Ohio yesterday.

Absurd game last night in Ohio.
Miami (Oh) is going to get torched on the interior in the tourney. I like a lot of their guys, but that’s going to be tough.
(Now everyone should take Miami ML
)
I wouldn’t want to play VCU in Dayton, 10 days after they played there (not sure if it’s the same arena).

Good one in 3OT for TAMU right now.
They flash up the regular season undefeated each time when Miami plays and I get frustrated that our 1968-69 Broncos were within a hair, a 2OT loss to SJSU.
More hoops today, but mostly good for the Broncos so far.
SLU concerning.
GW and Dayton could absolutely win the A-10. My point is that with 4 teams having equal chances of winning, if VCU is gonna be good enough for an at-large anyway, then the chances of a bad result for us decreases from 75% to 50%. For whatever that’s worth.
In other words, if there was one bubble team to win today, I’m glad it was VCU instead of one of the others.
We are on the same page.
Fewer bid stealer contenders is good, so long as (I) we remain in the picture and (II) someone else doesn’t come along and win it (ie, SLU and VCU at large + Dayton).
A two bid Mountain West, however that comes to pass, would be great for SCU. Obviously 1 bid would be better, but hard to imagine.
I love to see talented mid majors… but I agree Miami isn’t in the second weekend… I haven’t followed them that close but last night they appeared pretty well beat up.
I’d love to see Indiana and SMU falling to the NIT.
EDIT: Too bad for a good Belmont squad that got upset by 9th seeded Drake (not breaking news but I just noticed).
Lunardi with a 3/7 PM update…
He has Auburn as “Last Team In”. Auburn is getting demolished by Alabama:
There would seem to be a ginormous gap between the first 3 of the “last 4 in” (SCU, SMU, and VCU) and the squads that are playing hot potato with that very last team in slot. Of course, that mirage of safety will vanish in an instant the moment Miami-OH loses in the MAC tourney.
Texas (39 NET) is at risk of losing at home to a below bubble Sooner squad.
2 min left and the Longhorns are down by 2 pts.
EDIT TO ADD: after nearly collapsing, the Sooners beat the Texas in OT. Huge positive result for the Broncos.

Today was a DREAM day for anyone on the bubble who didn’t play.
Take care of business tomorrow night.

It looks like one of the Broncos’ Q2 wins fell to Q3.

Wazzu. We needed them to beat Portland to stay Q2. Very unlikely they climb back up with no games left for them to play.
Surely after tonight Auburn cannot still be considered an at-large team. Unless they make a run in the SEC tournament they will finish either 1 or 2 games above .500. I know they’ve played a tough schedule but you gotta win some games. Plus I hate Bruce Pearl, he’s an asshole that acts like he won 10 national championships

CBS Bracketology elevated SCU to a #10 seed this morning due to all the bubble losses from yesterday. This will become meaningless if we don’t beat Pacific tonight.
GO BRONCOS!!!
