Again, there won’t be a livestream that I can find. Utah State is selling tickets, so there will be a live audience. But I think this forum has yet to have a field rep in Logan, UT, so I’m not expecting the inside scoop from anyone here
There will be live stats here. The scrimmage starts at 1 pm Pacific.
Something to watch: Aggie guard Mason Falslev has an argument for best player in the country to return to his mid-major program this season. He won the Mountain West Player of the Year award last year and elected to stay in Logan. Mason did not play in the exhibition against Saint Mary’s. We will see if he suits up for this one.
Also, since SMC just played Utah State in Moraga, we will be able to manage a few knee jerk comparisons.
It will also be interesting to see who plays for Santa Clara. This is the final tune up before it counts, and I don’t expect to see the final distribution of minutes as the coaches try to assess the players in a live game situation, but we’ve had guys out due to sickness or injury without much information about the timeline for their return.
Down 41-35 at the half is not bad considering we are 4-19 from 3. Also, Utah State’s best player Falslev is playing this game and did not play at St. Mary’s as Patty mentioned. Any word on Mahi or KJ?
Getting away from SCU, with Tadjo fouled out and 4 each on Francis and Sidi. Sendek went with all 13 he had with no Mahi or Cochran, so it’s at least possible that the two squads are more even than it appears.
Still, would love to see a stronger finish here.
Edit: Just saw the rebounding margin. I take it back. The Broncos are getting rocked in the front court.
Agree Bob. Man, the fouls! The silver lining I see is that there were tons of different playing combinations for the coaches to evaluate and Ensminger played limited minutes.which we know will not be the case.
If we get Mahi back and an improved KJ then I have no doubt about this team’s ability to score, but slightly concerned about the defense… whether it be giving up 101 today or letting Stanford’s guard live at the free throw line. Utah State is a good team and I imagine they had an excellent crowd so definitely a valuable experience.
Listened to a postgame interview with a Utah State player and one of his comments was that they knew Santa Clara was going to be really physical and foul a lot so he and his teammates just needed to pump fake a bunch.
