Allen Graves to the NBA

That would be amazing and potentially another Bronco to get a ring. I’m curious to see who will get an invitation to the draft “green room” and if Allen makes that list. That would be great exposure for him (and SCU).

Great article by Forbes about Graves: Santa Clara Men's Basketball on X: "How Allen Graves Evolved From Overlooked Recruit to Top NBA Draft Prospect big thank you to @Forbes for the great feature on 2⃣2⃣ https://t.co/2vjjX8IVMo" / X

So it sounds like Graves is supposed to fall somewhere around the 18-22 range. It’s coming up soon!

#19 to the Raptors!

The Bronco first round draft pick graphic was very cool. Free advertising with three in the last five years.

Awesome Allen Graves to the Raptors and my city of Toronto. Had wanted the Raptors to select Jalen and Brandon in previous years so great that we have Graves and finally we have a Santa Clara player on Toronto’s roster!

Rookie Contract Scale:

Good financial move for Allen in the end. $4 million was around the reported max for his services from those schools possessing a money cannon, like Duke and LSU. Maybe it could have pushed slightly higher but not much. He’s getting roughly his NIL peak value and will be a year closer to a second contract that, hopefully, will more than make up for any money left on the table.

Canada has given the Broncos so much, it is about time we returned the favor. Darko Rajakovic is the perfect coach for Graves in the NBA.

So glad it worked out - would have hated this to be next year with a bunch of Duke highlights and him in a blue jersey on the chyron.

tremendous outcome for the Broncos, and an amazing eye for talent from our staff over the last half decade plus!

Bleacher Report wasn’t too impressed with the Raptors selecting Graves

Yahoo’s Kevin O’Connor was higher on the pick

Wow – one gives them a D+ and the other gives them an A

To the critics’ credits, it seems the Raptors didn’t actually need a player like Graves. So maybe the D+ was less about Graves the player and more about Toronto’s GM selecting him when they have other pressing needs.

With all of the recruiting SCU does out of Canada, and its so far most famous alum being a Canadian, Graves being in Toronto could be extremely beneficial for SCU.

Probably be more African and European imports choosing Canadian preps over the US in the years to come as well. Canadian pipeline only likely to get more advantageous.

Posting this here rather than starting a new thread since it’s a minor update:

Tilly picked up an Exhibit 10 deal from the OKC Thunder. It’ll be a pretty hard road to actually see the floor for an NBA team. Especially the Thunder who already have multiple 7-footers who can pass. But hey, Bal just did it and without any immediate contract after graduation. While unlikely, it would be fun to see Tilly and Jalen on the floor together (they just missed each other at SCU).

This begs the question: was it better for Tilly’s long-term prospects to play for tOSU last season? I understand the immediate benefit NIL money, but I think Tilly might have had a better season statistically had he stayed at SCU, perhaps earning a 2nd round draft selection.
