Let’s keep it rolling on Wednesday! Lots of fun.
And a related note…Vegas was wrong once again…way wrong by a long shot. And they’ve been wrong all season.
Be still my heart, Gary Parrish saying this Bronco team could do damage in March, if they get there!
TCU is a group of athletes. SCU is a team of basketball players.
The thing I am most impressed by is the coachability of the players and you can see it better if you look at one game vs another. They really digest and implement the scout. The dude that went off for Poly probably wasn’t talked about much if any. The TCU big that hadn’t made a 3, they played him as instructed and he made a couple that the numbers didn’t show he could make. But overall, giving room outside was clearly the right way to play them. They couldn’t get in the paint and score on a first shot very often.
So if they’re doing that then you figure they are doing the same in practice, and that’s how they have gotten so polished and their movement and spacing so good early in the season.
SCU +15 on the boards. I will go on record and say this team will not lose a game where they are +10 or more on the glass.
Pipes and J. Williams both have very good feel when running the point. They probe the defense but if it isn’t there right away then they get the ball moving.
So if Gaels’ #42 scores the final basket to win this game, would that be a “Fotu-finish”?
Carlos rolled an ankle in practice. Not sure when he’ll be back but soon.
He’s the only St. Mary’s player with his name on his back.
I’ve only seen the games televised on CBS, but wow! The offense looks very, very good, and the D is solid. With the rebounding improvement over the past several games, there’s not much to find fault with. They’re rolling teams the oddsmakers favored….Stanford, Nevada, TCU. Maybe those programs are all down this year, but if not, this could be the most exciting season since the Nash years.
Like Midwest, been sitting in the sidelines to avoid the online bickering, but still reading posts and happy to see the engagement on the board.
Really liking a lot about this team. Games are fun to watch, team seems to be having fun, and it’s definitely good basketball. Been a long time, but super stoked. Clearly the additions of Pipes and Braun are huge. They play composed, bring maturity, and make the right cuts and passes. Just gives much more fluidity to the offense. One thing I’m liking a lot is pushing the pace and taking some early shots in transition. We saw it a lot tonight on the threes, but it’s been consistent all year. Assists are off the charts.
WCC had a good day for sure. Will be fun to see what happens in the upper half. I like our chances to make some noise. Way better balance, outside shooting is improved, Braun plays smart, Pipes is quick and makes good reads, Giordan seems to have some of the swagger back from the end of last year, and Jalen is Jalen. Driving me crazy that announcers and pundits are jumping on the Jalen bandwagon just now, but so it goes. Glad to see him get the recognition. The D is solid and the team is athletic enough to keep it going. Stewart needs time, but looks like he’ll be good there too.
Was it bad that I was giggling about the announcers poking Herb about not smiling? I went to the AEC tour in early Oct. After the tour, we were taken up to the skybox were the assistant coaches gave a rah-rah Powerpoint on how great Herb was. Then he game up and was very animated. He can get excited!!
Welcome!
How was the AEC?
No, definitely not bad. I was rolling on the floor. I thought it was the best color work I have seen in a long time.
Herb loves the game and loves mentoring young people. So I’m glad you have gotten to see that reflected outside of the game setting. And he’s definitely very, very knowledgeable. No one in the game disputes that.
I really appreciated and enjoyed Tim Doyle’s work (to be fair he had a lot of blowout time to fill) and hopefully some recruits were watching.
The use of the replay to catch a sideline smile definitely got a chuckle from me.
