Love the Tourney

Or perhaps, since you have been banned from previous SCU Hoops forums for eternity, those in charge might uphold those bans?
Honestly I think they had the best intention to do so, but you have gone off the deep end with your numerous screen names and that time you took over the board and posted updates on your nintendo game to flood the site, just so you could show what you’d do if jcard kept booting you.

Ok if this isn’t off topic…what is off-topic?

And you still did not reply to my question. I have a new one for you, which you may very well ignore also.

What are the teams you would like to see Gonzaga play in their bracket? So you know, they wouldn’t have “easy”.

I realize this thread stopped being about the tourney, but man, that Zags vs UCLA game was amazing!

UCLA played it about as perfectly as you can. Props to Mick Cronin and coaching a beauty. So fun to watch. Suggs just has it. That block and pass were insane. Just all around amazing game to watch. Zags earned it this year, and happy to see them get tested. Baylor is going to be tough.

No kidding, outstanding game.
GU hasn’t had to play in tight, late game situations all year…when it was close late I was less than confident for GU, just because they haven’t experienced those situations much, if at all.

I expect the Baylor game will be a similar dogfight. Baylor has some dudes, athletically they match up just as well w/ GU.

Cronin is a great coach. Though he should send Rocket Watts a Christmas card every year for life, and we would be feeling a lot different about Cronin as a coach right now. That’s life as a basketball coach.

UCLA won that game if the refs weren’t in the tank for Gonzaga. Suggs both fouled and goaltended (hand in the net) on the “block” on Riley and the charge at the end was a bad call because the dribbler changed his direction and got his leg around the defender, so the defender wasn’t square. Should have been a block.

So, so lucky. UCLA outplayed them. 14 point underdogs. They did everything you need to do to win and had it taken from them. Then the Zags go stand on top of tables like they already won the championship. Timme is the most punchable player in college basketball. Every time he scored he flexes or preens or walks 20 feet or something to rub it in to the other team. Of course, probably hasn’t been called for it all year. Different rules for Zags.

Baylor will have to be 10 points better to win by 1. This has been anointed the year of the Zags and everyone is playing along. I can’t imagine they much liked seeing that display after the buzzer.

Would figure if in this asterisk season we have an asterisk record. I bet Kentucky wishes they would have only have only had to win this number of games. Indiana only had 32 but they had no conference tournament bc only the conference champion got a bid (so you wanted your best team there) and, hence, the tournament field itself was smaller.

You must have felt a physical pain after that Suggs’ shot

I felt terrible for UCLA and Cronin when I saw it, which was about 10 minutes ago after watching back the extended highlights, because I just didn’t care that much. I was more annoyed by the stuff in regulation where UCLA should have won.

I was a lot more concerned about 1. biking 70 miles (maybe not quite that many but close, I don’t use Strava and haven’t added it up on google maps yet) on a 70 degree cloudless day, and 2. Liverpool playing at Arsenal (won 0-3).

Every game the Zags win is the gap getting wider and wider. I don’t know why some people here seem happy to see that happen.

Flagged for inappropriate personal attack.

I was addressed with regard to my feelings about the end of the Gonzaga/UCLA game, and my response was as such – there were other things I cared more about today (even more than I listed, really), so I wasn’t nearly as bothered as the poster thought.

I’ve been around sports way too much to feel anything about any game between two teams I don’t even support (I don’t even like Mick Cronin). As a neutral, I guess it was good if you don’t much like defense. I do, so I thought it was pretty meh. Pretty sad that was a Final Four game, really, with as low quality as the defense was.

I’m tired now from my day, so you’re on your own. Have a good night, don’t be too ate up with me.

In what universe are the refs “in the tank” for Gonzaga over UCLA, possibly the most storied basketball program ever?

I love harping on the home court effect when the Broncos play in Spokane (almost always worth 2-3 questionable calls for the Zags), but I see zero evidence that anyone is just caving to the Zags’ narrative here. If it were that easy, the NCAA really owes Zion and Duke some money for blowing it two years ago for them.

Because it makes the best TV. Simple.

Clearly a world conspiracy to “hand” Gonzaga the title… also the excuse for SCU finishing 7th in the WCC.

Actually despite the high score in last nights Zags UCLA game the defense was solid for both clubs. The offense was even better. Both teams made lots of heavily contested shots. Great game if you like quality college basketball.

SCU didn’t finish 7th. I really don’t think the moderators should allow people get away with just flat out lying on the board.

And I disagree that it was a good defensive game. I mean there’s just no way you can argue that.

Even as close final four games go, of course Virginia-Texas Tech was much better defense, and Villanova-North Carolina was better. And Indiana-Syracuse. And the Duke-UNLV game that Duke won, which was maybe the best game of them all because of how many great players were in that game. So many really good players and yet defense was still a factor.

The Stanford-South Carolina women’s game was a close final four game with a lot of defense, too. Just because a game is close doesn’t mean it’s great, and in my opinion, a game can’t be great if the defense is as bad as it was in Gonzaga-UCLA. YMMV, and I’m sure it will just because it’s me, if for no other reason.

Line for tonight: GU -4.5.
Seems like a pick-em game to me. Probably wouldn’t touch this game regardless but if I did I think my money would be on Baylor.

'92…agree…the two brackets I’m doing o.k. in I have Baylor winning. I hVE never hoped more to be wrong. Should be an awesome game.

Refs doing everything possible to try to keep gonzaga in it, but Baylor just a lot better.

Zags would have been 3rd or 4th in the big 12.

The nonsense about timme’s “injury” just too funny. Didn’t see much flexing from him. Smart enough bc the one time the little punk Suggs did, Baylor called game in the next 2 minutes and gonzaga choked away any chance at a comeback. He’s going to get his block knocked off at the next level if he tries that crap. Save the table stands for jordan.

If not for the ref help, this would have been one of the most lopsided title games ever. Dominated.

Eat. It. Zags.

This has been so much better than if ucla has upset them. No one going to think them anything like an all time great team now. Nearly 40 full minutes of Timme looking like his horse ran away was so much better. But hey they’ll always have needing a 40 foot desperation heave to beat an 11 seed to get through the easiest bracket any 1 seed has had in the 64+ team era, and probably well before that.

Lol baylor players talking all kinds of trash.

Baylor definitely watched Santa Clara in their film study. The way they played Zags is exactly how scu did. Switch the high screens, make them shoot over a hand or on a tough drive.

And take advantage of their lack of size and athletic ability in the forward positions.

Every place they were weak vs scu, they were impotent tonight. If not for the gift bracket, this could have happened a couple rounds earlier.

Coming back from break with the sniffling gonzaga guy and saying “not you” was too funny.

I guess Timme cemented himself as a 4 year college player tonight. He looked completely overwhelmed against the Baylor length and quickness. That being said, I won’t look forward to facing Timme two more years in conference. I do find his nonsense of blowing kisses and flexing after every basket to be annoying so I don’t mind him having to eat some humble pie tonight.

The Zags lost one game all year, and they pasted a lot of very good teams along the way, including those the Big 12. They had one of the greatest seasons in years. To say they would be 3rd or 4th is just absurd. Look, I think Baylor is the better team and many others here did before the game too. Zags had a better team last year imo. They lost way too much size and it showed on the glass tonight. They also get soft playing in a weak league. But, isn’t it possible they’re the second best team in America? Pretty sure most people would agree.

You obviously have extreme dislike for Gonzaga, so please divulge what exactly you know about their program and specifically what Few has done to make you so angry about it? Besides fly fish and build a program over the long haul. LSU, Arizona, UNC, name any egregious offenders - why not hate them instead? Other than the fact that the Zags have contributed to keeping Sendek under .500 in conference play.
