OOC Game 5: Idaho State

The boys keeping us humble by playing with their food.

At least the defense was solid in that half. Boy I would not want to try and dribble with Darlan guarding me.

Team looks lost offensively. If the 3’s are falling it’s like they don’t know what to do. Too much standing around and not enough ball movement.

Better turn things around in the 2nd half and not let these guys stick around

Yeah, ugly first half. Only positives are Darlan really embracing defense and Graves being willing to be aggressive and just make things happen even if it requires a miss and put back.

Nothing going down. This is insane.

Now I’m stressed, must make our fts down the stretch

This why I watch the games the next day (although I’m planning to drive up Friday).

I think we just saw how important Knapper is to the offense’s flow

Hopefully this locks them in for the Cajuns and Billikens.

Can’t shoot worse than we did tonight!

Nice to grab a win with horrendous shooting… that said, a similar shooting display won’t play against better teams.

Defense won the night.

Had Nightmares of the North Dakota State game from last year occupying my thoughts in the second half, so I won’t complain about the win.

Thought about that as well. The D is better this season, tho.’

Great job tonight! Really enjoyed the listen… but only slightly disappointed we didn’t get a callout, ie. - “graves with a dunk loud enough to Wake up Swig”.

Agree 100%….Their defense can carry them on nights when shots aren’t fallen, although hard to imagine a shooting display worse than tonight. As mentioned previously, BK’s absence was felt tonight, but credit to Hammond down the stretch.

Worst shooting performance I think I’ve ever seen from SCU. But like all have said, excellent defense overall. It’s hard to imagine a less-defensively-minded SCU team really holding on in that one. They didn’t shoot quite this badly at LMU last year but also didn’t defend as effectively.

I would still like back a few FT attempts that are inexcusable misses and at least two of Sash’s passes to Los Gatos. The Broncos had twenty extra looks at the hoop over Idaho State, and man did they need all of them.

No exaggeration, @TD_24 – I think that was some of the best Bronco color commentary in years. I wish that you could have gotten a better game to let your excitement run hot a bit more, but that will come.

@Midwestbronco14 Maybe we should use the forum to workshop some good catchphrases for our commentator friend?

That was an ugly win. Their defense saved them tonight. Awful games from Sash, Mahi & Bukky. Hammond, Jake & Graves played great. BK was missed.

Not sure if it showed up on the stream but Christian was in noticeable pain and was massaging his left knee after that drive where he was fouled and went to the ground. Didn’t look serious as he kept playing but could be something worth monitoring.

I didn’t get to watch but seems tonight was a game worth missing. When I saw the score I thought - “oh no - guessing they tried to live by the three again”. Difference this year is you have a back court willing to play defense this year. Glad they did since it seems defense won the game tonight.

Hope BK gets well soon. Guess I’ll be watching more Santa Clara since Cam is OUT through end of December while he recovers.

Sure it feels good to be starting the season 5-0!

While defense and O rebounding did keep us in the game, let’s be honest, Idaho missed a LOT of wide open looks. An issue I see the past three games, are opposing guards are blowing by our guards into the paint and finding easier shots at the rim. We also aren’t getting back on defense after a miss on our end, resulting in teams getting easy transition layups. That can haunt us going forward.

That said, love the way we are battling…
