Podz and the NBA

Brandin Podziemski has helped himself as much as any prospect in the pre-draft process thus far, first at the NBA Combine, and then in private workouts, where one exec described him as a "mean MFer."

Does it say something or anything positive or negative that both Podz and Jalen improved their prospects leading up to the draft?

I wonder if they’ve been working out on campus? Kudos to our training staff?

Prior to the combine he was working out in Milwaukee

Most guys hire full time training staffs to prep them for the draft. Not a knock on Santa Clara, just how professionalized the whole process is now.

Great for Podz and great for SCU!

That is fantastic news for Podz and his family. The ability to participate in the draft by walking up on stage, putting on the team cap and sit down for a one-on-one interview is so cool! I’ve always been curious how much intel the NBA gathers from the teams about the players they are selecting before making these invitations.

NBA TV had projections and showed Podz going to Warriors at #19. Personally I don’t think that will happen but it would be terrific if it did.

There are many others who think the same thing (or are just lazy and plagiarizing others predictions or using ChatGBT.). Both Bleacher Report and EPSN have him going to the Ws.

Well, he can just take a short uber ride to his new team. He’s going to be fantastic for the Warriors.

Need to talk to some of the Warrior fans. The amount of anger about a draft selection is off the charts. Social Media can be so cruel. Maybe folks should just let the kid show up and play and THEN decide if he is right for the team or not.

A lot of that is just Twitter and internet culture. We try to keep things positive around here, but the tendency to snipe for fun with (often) the cover if anonymity is big. Average fans were not sold on Jalen last year, especially because he came out of SCU. They came around.

They’ll learn to love Podz. He works so hard and contributes across the board. He will be a great fit but has historically thrived with a fair amount of doubt around him. One more challenge for the young man is all this is.

I’ve been a big Warriors fan all my life.

It didn’t matter who the Warriors picked last night, Twitter fans were going to be pissed. This had more to do with trading for CP3.

Truly an amazing stat. SCU in same club as the power schools. I think Carlos Stewart could have made it three straight had he stayed Hopefully Herb can build on this and despite our roster losses I do think we have some players that can develop and maybe lead us to the big show in March. Always hopeful. GO BRONCOS!
