Seems like when SMC had that 2nd half run, we were trying to get scoring out of our bigs and just sort of stalled out. Not sure why we try to do that since that’s not where we have an advantage. We clawed back when we started getting shots for Podz, Carlos and Justice.
Tried to go to bigs because St Marys had perimeter covered. When Carlos and Podz started going INSIDE rather than be chased around at the top is when we started to score.
So full on assault all game is playing? Seriously. It was like playing your bad cousin who hangs on to you to keep up in a game of pick up.

Lot of long ball boards after SMC long range shots. Backcourt needs to get those.
Yes, SMC does play a bit of basketbrawl but if the refs don’t blow the whistle, all you can do is play in a similar manner (a coach should be able to help the kids adjust accordingly). If you don’t you are at a disadvantage.
I’ve never been a fan of Herb’s no touch defense. He coaches like the refs are robots and should call everything, and that’s just not how it is. Good coaches teach the kids how and where to foul so as to not get called the majority of the time.
Blaming the refs doesn’t get us anywhere. It’s a lame excuse. There were some bad calls, but they went both ways. We made way more mistakes out there than the refs.
NORMALLY I would agree with that. But THIS GAME was def controlled by refs. Ref on baseline making mid court calls, swapping fouls, forgetting a count, missing out of bounds, noted Santa Clara fouls committed were predominately SHOOTING fouls whereas ones given to us were on the floor only. This seemed too intentional and political. Sorry. Agree to disagree on this one.
You are learning to hate Saint Marys with admirable speed! Good Work!
Lol. Nah. Its the NCAa ans their polotica ge
