Thank you for posting these side by side… there’s some interesting takeaways:

  • scu is consistently in the top third
  • Gonzaga domination is soon to come to an end in both men’s and women’s, there will be a void on both to fill
  • USD is really struggling to keep up

I’m expecting SCU will face Seattle. UOP ran out of gas at the end of conference play. Even though they hung in there against SMC and Gonzaga recently they have lost 6 of their last 8. Also, I can’t imagine USD or LMU making any noise in Vegas.

If so, that becomes Seattle’s 3rd game in 3 nights. You have to hope a well rested Broncos team sees a Seattle team playing on fumes in the 2nd half if not earlier.

I’m not excited about playing either UoP or Seattle. Both good defensive teams, that are physical and play a slower, methodical pace.

Agree, Seattle would be preferrable if for no other reason than the fatigue factor.

Hope to meet some of you if you’re going to the alumni pregame party on Sunday. Is it bad luck that I’m bringing my friend who is a Loyola-Chicago grad? :winking_face_with_tongue:

Seattle is the best case opponent for SCU for two reasons. First, like you said, Santa Clara will have a decided fatigue advantage. While Pepperdine got past SCU last year on their third straight night, that was a hot shooting, no defense squad. Seattle’s defense takes a lot of energy to maintain and will be tough to keep at a high level for three straight nights.

Second, there’s at least a small chance that Seattle could sneak into the NET top-100 with two more wins. It’s not at all likely, but there’s a possibility there. Top-100 would mean a Q2 game for SCU, which would matter for the Bubble if somehow Seattle doesn’t drop back down after losing to SCU. That scenario is pretty remote, but it exists for Seattle and not for the other opponents on SCU’s side of the bracket.

what do we want tonight? I tend to think pacific BUT Seattle on day 3 probably more appealing.

They’re three spots apart on NET.

Someone smarter than me (or who isn’t in the stands of a tennis tournament) could figure out if there’s a WAB difference of any significance, but I doubt it.

So I’m rooting for Seattle on tiredness factor. Both played us tough.

Pilots vs. Dons has turned out to be quite the slugfest.

16-15 with under 6 minutes left in first half.

I’d say Seattle. It’s a huge disadvantage to play 3 in a row versus a fresh team.

Also I’d like to see Portland win. They’re playing their 3rd game in a row tonight. I want to see Oregon State breeze by them so that the Beavers can be fresh for Gonzaga.

I think Portland losing was good. Played them once and we need USF to remain Q2 win on the road. I think we root for USF tomorrow night as well.

Pacific it is. Ugly game all around.
