I can give him a minor pass if this is a one-off appearance, like an extended guest spot. But still.
But for horrible free throw shooting, SCU would be pretty safely ahead.

Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers…can’t believe best we could do was have Esminger hold the ball and wait to be fouled only to turn the ball over yet again.
MISSED FREE THROWS…that’s the difference

A well deserved loss.
Hammond never should have fouled that final play when we were up by four. Let them score. Even if they hit a three. We are up by one and we have 15 seconds to eat up and get our shot. That’s where not having guard hurt us.

That was as bad of an officiated game as I’ve seen. But SCU just has to hit even a mediocre free throw rate to win that.
I’d like to see a redo where SCU isn’t down 5 of its 8 rotation players.

I feel so bad for Jake Esminger man, did so many good things today. This HURTS don’t get me wrong but with everything thrown their way, I’ll be the optimistic one for once and commend the Broncos who stood by and tried to finish it off

Yes, but the opportunity was there for a heroic win and couldn’t get it done. The final play wasn’t bad, decent look for 1.4secs left.
17 Bronco turnovers to USF’s 8. And yes the missed FT’s incl at least front end of a 1and1.
Mogbo…after 0 first half pts, he had 16pts, 6rebs, a block and 4 steals in the 2nd half.

I’m disappointed, but not mad. The kids played hard and extremely shorthanded. You could see the game slipping away though as Broncos struggled against their press. Two other observations:
USF…Tremendous FT shooting
Dons true frosh guard Beasley far outplayed our true guard Hammonds when both were needed.

And don’t look now but USD lurks just 1.5 games behind at 5-6. After losing their first five WCC games, they have gone 5-1 since.
Broncos are 6-4 and still have to play USD plus GU and USF once each…lose to those 3 and we finish 9-7. Meanwhile USD’s final 5 games are: Portland, SCU, SMC, LMU and Pacific. If they beat us next week, they have a chance to finish 9-7 and would hold the tiebreaker over us.
They are not beating us at home. Payback is gonna be epic.
